They will undergo a 12-month structured internship programme aimed at providing supervised clinical training and practical exposure within real-world healthcare environments.
The Ministry stated that the programme is intended to help interns consolidate the knowledge, skills, and attitudes acquired during their academic training, further preparing them for registration and licensing by their respective regulatory bodies.
"This milestone highlights the Ministry’s continued commitment to strengthening Kenya’s health workforce and developing a pipeline of skilled, hands-on professionals to support service delivery across the country," said Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale.
The interns will be drawn from six key health cadres:
1,147 Medical Officer Interns
87 Dentist Interns
500 Pharmacist Interns
659 Bachelor of Science Clinical Officer Interns
1,993 Diploma Clinical Officer Interns
2,098 Bachelor of Science Nursing Officer Interns
“All eligible pre-interns are advised to collect their posting letters in person on Monday, June 30, 2025, from 9 am at the Ministry of Health Headquarters – Afya House, Nairobi,” added Duale.
“Posting letters will only be issued upon presentation of a valid National Identity Card. Timely collection will ensure smooth reporting and preparation at the designated facilities,” he noted.
